Application - Justin Bartlett
-Your Name and age
Justin Bartlett, I'm 17
-How you found out about Team Unknown Stars
forums, mtgcast, I'm also friends with Kenny Mayer.
-Your Magic accomplishments
one MSS qualifier top 8, SCG 5k top 4, T16 2008 Maryland regionals
-The last three major tournaments you attended and your record at each of them (Major tournaments are considered to be large events such as PTQ's, Regionals, Champs, Nationals, the Pro Tour, and other events on those levels or higher.)
VA States 3-2, SCG 5k 6-0-2 lost in the semi's to Chris Woltereck, PTQ Berlin 0-2 this block season was not kind to me

-Why you play competitive Magic
I love the high level intellectual competition, and also magic has let me meet a bunch of new really cool people and travel to cool places.
-What your main reasons are for wanting to join the team
to have a solid testing group who can bounce ideas off of each other. there are also not very many good players in my area and I know many of the people on the team are very skilled. I think I've gotten as good as I can by playing the people here and would like a new, better group of people to test with.
-What you think you would bring to the team that makes you stand out above other applicants
I basically think about magic all the time while I'm awake. I always have ideas on how to improve decklists and also weak points in decks that could be exploited.
-What your strengths as a Magic player are
Finding exploitable spots in formats, I've also gotten pretty good at drafting since I'm basically on MODO nonstop. I'm also good at making mulligan decisions.
-What your weakness as a Magic player are
Sideboard strategies, I can never figure out what goes out for specific matchups.
-What the main formats that you play and focus on are
Right now I'm looking towards extended because I don't think I'll be able to make any of the limited PTQs, then probably Legacy because I'm looking into going to GP Chicago and I'll also look at standard and limited once the new set comes out.
-Which format you think you're most proficient in
I've had the most tournament success with standard decks so I guess that.
If you have any more specific questions I'd be happy to answer them.

Re: Application - Justin Bartlett
I would also like to add that I just finished in the virtual top 8 of the PTQ for Kyoto in Rockville. I tied in the last round which bumped me to 9th place.

Re: Application - Justin Bartlett
After careful consideration and discussion, you have not been chosen to be added to the team at this time. Team Unknown Stars is always looking for new members, and if you are still interested you may reapply after 30 days have passed.
Thank you,
